The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the new C-Vigil app has received 79,000 complaints so far since its launch. This indicates the growing number of violations among the candidates and political parties in the country.
The app has been designed to keep the track of election-related violations and make the reporting process faster and easier. It is one of the steps taken by the ECI to ensure free, fair, and inducement-free polls.
The C-Vigil app has received complaints of various nature including illegal hoardings and banners, money, gifts, and liquor distribution, defacement of property, and display of firearms and intimidation.
The app allows users to report complaints via their mobile devices and the app will then be connected with the District Control Room, Returning Officer, and Flying Squads Teams. The complainants will receive a unique ID number through which they can track the status of their complaint.
The C-Vigil app also has a built-in geo-tagging feature which enables users to capture images and videos in real-time. This can be used as evidence in the court of law.
It is noteworthy that the C-Vigil app has been able to resolve 99% of the complaints received so far. This indicates the swift implementation and effectiveness of the app. The app has received complaints from both major political parties and it is important that the users report any violations against their candidates or parties. This will help the ECI to keep the track of and ensure that the rules are enforced.
