Imphal: In an unexpected turn of events, two individuals reported missing in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district are now in police custody, as disclosed by local authorities.
The missing persons, identified as Khullak Korungthang Dangshawa (35) of Khukarthil village and DS Modar Maring (51) of N Satang village, were reportedly last seen at their residences around 2 pm on Tuesday. Concerned, a missing report was promptly filed at Machi Police Station the following day.
However, subsequent investigations revealed that the two individuals were apprehended by the Army. The arrested duo was then handed over to the Tengnoupal police station to undergo necessary legal procedures.
Authorities have communicated this development to the families and relatives of the detained individuals, ensuring they are kept informed about the situation.
Reliable sources shed light on the circumstances surrounding their arrest. According to these accounts, the two detainees were en route to Saibol and surrounding villages, engaged in selling vegetables and other food items. The incident unfolded when they were stopped by para commandos affiliated with Tengnoupal AR at Machi-Shangshak junction. Subsequently, they were arrested on suspicion of having links with militants operating in the area.
One of the detainees, Dangshawa, reportedly suffered severe physical harm at the hands of the Army. He has been subsequently transferred to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal for medical treatment, according to insider information.
