Kohima: The Akuk Students’ Union (ASU) emerged champion in the 21st edition of the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) Martyr’s Football Running Trophy 2022 played against Yanchum Yankho Old Changsu (YYOC) with a winning score of 1-0.
The 21st edition of the LSU Martyr’s Football Running Trophy 2022, which kicked off on April 14, concluded on Friday at Wokha Local ground.

Dominating the match, Ekonthung Kithan of Akuk Students’ Union scored the lone goal in 15 minutes of the first half to take the team to victory.
NSN Lotha, former NSF president, graced the closing ceremony as special guest. He also handed over the champions trophy, cash and certificates to the winners.
The ASU took home the running trophy, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 60,000, while the runners-up received a running trophy, certificates and cash prize of Rs 30,000.
Individual awards of the 21st edition of the football championship for the best defender was given to Liyanthung Odyuo of Yanchum Yankho Old Changsu, while ASU’s Ekonthung Kithan bagged the highest scorer title with ASU’s Zubenthung Kithan awarded the best player of the tournament. The best team award went to Sunglup Sputnik Football Club.
The Martyr’s Trophy is being organised in the memory of Lt. Thungkhomo Ezung and Lt. Chumdamo Tungoe. All together 20 teams participated in the football tournament.
