Imphal: On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to commemorate the 258th Raising Day of Army Medical Corps, a motorcycle expedition is being conducted by the Army Medical Corps.
The motorcycle rally plans to cover 12 states, including seven northeast states of India, and the team is visiting more than 75 Army & Civil medical establishments to motivate doctors and paramedics.
On Monday, the expedition, that started from National War Memorial in New Delhi, reached Mantripukhri garrison in Manipur after covering a distance of nearly 2,700 km. The expedition team comprises eight officers and two non-commissioned officers.
The team felicitated the frontline warriors at RIMS, Imphal, and also paid their homage to freedom fighters at INA Museum in Moirang.
The expedition also aims to honour the frontline warriors in the fight against COVID-19 who provide critical medical support in keeping with the ethos of “Shoulders behind Soldiers”.
The expedition will cover over 10,000 km, out of which 5,500 km are in the beautiful jungles and mountains of North East over a span of 20 days of driving time.
