Aizawl: Mizoram reported 1,819 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, 323 cases less than the previous day, taking the state’s tally to 1,71,686, a health department official said. 

The death toll rose to 601 as two more persons from Aizawl and Lunglei district have succumbed to the infection, he said.

Aizawl district reported the most cases at 1,160, followed by Mamit (163) and Lunglei (132), he said. The single-day positivity rate dipped to 26.38 per cent from 27.32 per cent the previous day.

The northeastern state now has 14,811 active cases, while 1,611 people have recovered from the infection, taking the total recoveries to 1,56,274.

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 91 per cent and the death rate is 0.35 per cent.
The northeastern state has so far tested 16.66  lakh samples for COVID-19 and out of this 6,895 samples were tested on Saturday.

According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalmuanawma Jongte, Over 7.94 lakh people have been inoculated till Saturday and 6.14 lakh of them have received full dose.
