Kohima: The vaccination drive will be delayed in two districts of Nagaland due to internet connectivity issues.
Following the nation-wide launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio will launch the vaccine for nine districts at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK).
Principal Director of health and family welfare, Dr Vizolie Suokhrie informed that the state received about 50% of vaccines on Thursday. The health official said that the vaccination would roll out in all state districts, excluding Longleng and Kiphire.
“All districts will get the vaccines as allocated by the Ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW). Launching in two districts is not done due to internet connectivity issues with Delhi. Otherwise, vaccination will be carried out in all districts as projected. Only online launching programme is not done in these two districts,” said UNICEF Consultant for Nagaland, Dr Longri Kichu.
The state received 26,500 dosages of Covishield vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India on Thursday. The 26,500 doses will cover around 12,000 health care workers in health units under the 1st Phase and will be free of cost.
