President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited ‘Sadaiv Atal Samadhi’ in New Delhi to pay floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary.
Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present to express their gratitude to the former Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released a book ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume’ to mark the 96th birth anniversary of the former prime minister. The book was released at a function in the Central Hall of Parliament. The book was published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat which contains some rare photographs from his public life and highlights the life and works of the former Prime Minister and contains his notable speeches delivered in Parliament.
In 2015, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was bestowed with India’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna for exceptional service to the nation and performance of the highest order. Before this he was also awarded the nation’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 1992. As a parliamentarian, Vajpayee was also awarded with the Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Award for Best Parliamentarian in 1994, which defines him as a role model par excellence for all legislators.
