The World Health Organization said that the higher transmission rate strain which was discovered in Britain is not out of control yet, and can be contained using the existing methods.
WHO emergencies chief Michael Ryan in a press conference stated, “We have had a much higher (contamination rate) at different points in this pandemic and we’ve got it under control.” He added that this situation is not out of control however, it cannot be left to its own devices.
Earlier, British Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated that the new variant was “out of control.” Even various British officials said that it was 70% more transmissible than the previous main strain.
Ryan also stated that the measures which are already in place are the correct ones adding, “We need to do what we have been doing, we may just have to do it with a little more intensity and for a little longer to make sure we can bring this virus under control.”

Roughly 30 countries shut their borders to people who are travelling from Britain or South Africa to stop any further spread, as even another new variant emerged in South Africa as well.
“In some senses, it means we have to work harder,” Ryan said. “Even if the virus has become a little bit more efficient in spreading, the virus can be stopped” he added during the press conference.
