Tinsukia: Protests erupted at Kamle district in Arunachal Pradesh following the rape of a girl by a school principal.
Hundreds of protesters, including women and students, demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.
The 14-year-old girl, a school student, was allegedly raped by the principal of Raga-based Green Hills School Bini Tegi on December 12. The victim’s family lodged an FIR on Tuesday.
This incident came days after the rape of a minor girl surfaced in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Rahul Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Kamle district, told EastMojo, “The police are committed to helping the victim get justice and a strong charge-sheet will be prepared and filed before the court after completing the investigation at the earliest. We will ensure speedy investigation and trial to help victim get justice.”

The police have arrested the accused principal and begun investigation. A case has been registered under 376(2) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 and 6 of the POCSO act.
The accused was produced before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court and sent to judicial custody at Ziro.
