Early trends in the results of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections show a close fight between the newly-floated Pramod Boro-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the ruling Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Reports state that the UPPL has taken an early lead in over 24 seats. Till noon, UPPL was leading with a mix of comfortable and narrow margins. It was on December 10 that the voting for the 40 constituencies of BTC ended.

Additionally, till Saturday noon, BPF was leading in seven seats, BJP in seven seats, GSP in two seats, and AIUDF and INC in just one seat.

One must note that this is just the first round of counting and a much clearer picture will emerge after 2 PM. Moreover, the results of the first round of counting are yet to be declared.
