One of the accused in the Assam Police sub-inspector recruitment case, Saroj Sharma, has been arrested from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport by the crime investigation department (CID) of Assam Police on Friday.
According to reports, Sharma had been absconding in Lucknow and was arrested on his way back to Assam. It is also alleged that the prime suspect of the case, former Assam Police DIG PK Dutta fled to Nepal from Guwahati by using the Range Rover vehicle (bearing registration no TN19 Q 6464), allegedly owned by Saroj Sharma.

Meanwhile, Rubul Hazarika, who is allegedly a close aid of prime accused PK Dutta, has surrendered before Nalbari police on Friday.
Hazarika was interrogated at Nalbari under the supervision of GP Singh, ADGP (law and order), and is now being brought to Guwahati for further investigation.
Assam Police on Wednesday conducted raids in the houses of Akshay Chand Baid and Rubul Hazarika in Bongaigaon. A team of Assam Police also raided the office of Akshay Telecommunications and eventually sealed it.
According to sources, the police also interrogated Nirmal Baid, the brother of Akshay Chand Baid, who allegedly got sub-contract for conducting the police recruitment exam.
