To check the community spread of the virus, Assam Government last month had clamped the lockdown on Saturday and Sunday, with the movement of people prohibited during the night. The night curfew was given from 9.30 pm to 5.30 am to restrict the movement of people so that they might not add to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.

This decision comes in a time when Assam has been witnessing a rise in COVID-19 positive cases with a total of 330 reported deaths. on Thursday a total of 3,054 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the state with 735 cases from Kamrup (Metro), 198 cases from Dibrugarh, 192 from Cachar, and 176 from Hojai. The total active cases in the state are at 27,303.
The secretary’s tweet has got various mixed reactions from Twitterati as many are taking this to be a wrong decision in the part of the state government.
Why the decision is taken now when cases are increasing rapidly each day ???
