Guwahati: A new case of COVID-19 aka novel coronavirus has been reported from Assam, taking the total to 27 in the state so far. The patient from Dhubri district is also related to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz last month.
This was updated at 9.25 am on Tuesday (April 7) by health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.

With this, the total number of cases in the Northeast has risen to 32.
On Monday evening, Tripura reported its first novel coronavirus aka COVID-19 case after a 45-year-old woman from Udaipur tested positive at the Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital.
Taking to Twitter, CM Biplab Kumar Deb announced the development at 8 pm on Monday (April 6, 2020). “Alert! First #COVID19 positive case detected at Tripura. The patient is from Udaipur. Don’t Panic, we are taking proper care of the patient. Stay Home Stay Safe. Update at: 8PM / April 6,” he tweeted.

Apart from this, Manipur has reported two positive cases, while Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram has one case each.
