New Delhi: A 10-month-old in Karnataka tested positive for the virus becoming the youngest COVID-19 patient in the state.

The baby, who hails from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada, was suffering from fever and severe acute respiratory illness.

Although the baby has no prior history of foreigtn travel, the family had reportedly travelled to Kerala.

The child was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru on March 23. On March 26, the baby tested COVID-19 positive.

According to reports, the child is currently stable and close relatives have already been quarantined.

Precautionary measures were taken to ensure COVID-19 does not spread to others in Sajipandu in Bantwal taluk. All residents of the village are quarantined and no one can enter or leave the village.
