Meghalaya government has issued a direction that any person found hoarding, black-marketing or selling at a price higher than the maximum retail price of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers shall be punishable under Section 3 of the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980. This was informed by the Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.

This is in pursuance to the order of the Government of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to regulate the production, quality, distribution, logistics of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers (for COVID 19 management).

2 suspected case of Coronavirus in Assam, test results to come today evening

A suspected case of COVID-19 was admitted at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam on Tuesday. Identified as Nazrul Islam, 48, he is now under home isolation after his samples were collected for testing. Results will come on Wednesday evening, say sources.

Islam was travelling from Mumbai to Guwahati on a SpiceJet flight. Islam reported high fever on landing at the Lokpriya Gopinath International Airport in Guwahati.

Another case, a 15-year-old boy, Ansuman Sarma, too was transferred to the GMCH after he reported of fever and running nose. He has been released after initial testing. Sarma flew in from Delhi on Wednesday morning.
