Aizawl: Kids from across Mizoram got another opportunity to celebrate their big day as Children’s Day was celebrated in the state on Thursday.
State Raj Bhavan hosted an event where students of some schools were given a tour of Heritage Building and other places inside the governor’s building. Over 100 students participated in the event.
In capital Aizawl, the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and Eternity Partner organised a carnival at Aijal Park. Children had fun playing games. Singing and traditional dance competitions were organised and prizes were also distributed among students.

At the Assam Rifles parade ground, Pawl Kut (festival) was also organised by the departments of art and culture and social welfare with the theme ‘Obey your parents’.
Pawl Kut is one of the important festivals of Mizos associated with children. It is a festival that follows the end of the harvest season. In olden times it was usually celebrated during the month of December.
As time passes, the time of the festival has been preponed so that it can be celebrated on the same day as Children’s Day.
