Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off Nok Air’s first Guwahati-Bangkok direct flight from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
It is the first such direct flight to Bangkok by an international carrier from the city. The flight will take off from LGBI Airport and reach Don Meuang International Airport in Bangkok, in less than 3 hours.

Nok Air is a premium budget airline from Thailand and it is scheduled to fly twice a week from LGBI Airport in Guwahati.
CM Sonowal took to social media and said, “This moment is yet another realisation of PM Shri Narendra Modi ji’s #ActEast vision & will boost Indo-Thai tourism & trade.”
He added that with the start of the Guwahati-Bangkok flight, “we can easily tap into the popular tourism market and boost trade”.
