Guwahati: With search operations for the missing AN-32 aircraft entering the fifth day, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa visited Assam and interacted with the family members of the officers and the airmen on board the ill-fated aircraft, in Jorhat district on Saturday.
As per reports, the Indian Air Force (IAF) chief, who visited the Air Force base in Jorhat, was briefed by top officials about the ongoing search and rescue operations. He also made a detailed review of the entire effort that is being conducted in the thick, hilly mountains of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a recent tweet posted at its official Twitter handle, the IAF said that it has expanded the range of search operations with deployment of more search aircraft. It further said that more areas are being monitored now by airborne satellites and sensors.
“Close analysis of data from satellite images for synergistic amalgamation in search is being carried out,” it added.

Search efforts by ground teams of the Indian Army, ITBP, state police and members of local population have continued in full force on the fifth day. However, aerial search could not be undertaken due to inclement weather condition prevailing throughout the day, the IAF tweeted.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 aircraft, which went missing around 1 pm on Monday, a little over half an hour after taking off from Jorhat in Assam and flying to Arunachal’s Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground (ALG), had six officers and seven airmen on board.
