Guwahati: Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, joined over 10,000 youth volunteers in a 6 km “Padyatra” (foot march) in New Delhi on Monday.
The march, organized by MY Bharat volunteers, commemorated the 75th Constitution Day and was themed “Humara Samvidhan Humara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution Our Pride).
The Padyatra commenced at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium and proceeded through Kartavya Path and India Gate. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Raksha Nikhil Khadse, along with prominent youth icons and Olympic medalists Yogeshwar Dutt, Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Dahiya, and Yogesh Kathunia also participated in the event.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Mandaviya expressed his enthusiasm for the overwhelming youth participation, stating that the event demonstrated the youth’s commitment to the Indian Constitution. He emphasized that the Padyatra highlighted the progress of New India towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
The event began with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree for Mother Earth) initiative, where Dr. Mandaviya and other dignitaries planted a tree. A comprehensive exhibition showcasing the journey of the Indian Constitution and the contributions of key figures was organized at the starting point.
Youth dressed in period costumes, portraying figures like Dr. B.R. Youth dressed in period costumes, portraying leaders such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, provided an immersive historical experience.
The Padyatra featured vibrant cultural exhibitions along the route, showcasing traditional Gujarati dances, Rajasthani folk dances, and Punjabi Bhangra. At India Gate, a symbol of national unity, participants collectively read the Preamble of the Constitution, emphasizing its importance as the foundation of India’s democracy and highlighting its core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Dr. Mandaviya and other dignitaries paid floral tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate.
Youth engagement was central to the event, with MY Bharat registration drives held throughout the program and Preamble-themed selfie points available for participants to capture the day. MY Bharat volunteers actively contributed to the event by setting up refreshment stalls and participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign). The Padyatra engaged youth from 125 colleges in the NCR Region and organizations like NYKS, NSS, NCC, and Bharat Scouts & Guides.
