Kolkata: West Bengal’s new Covid-19 cases on Monday dropped to 1,910 from 3,427 the previous day, while the overall infection tally climbed to 19,95,516, the health department said in a bulletin.
The state recorded 36 more coronavirus fatalities, taking the death toll to 20,619.
The number of active cases decreased by 5,853 in a day to be 25,709, the bulletin said.
Altogether 7,727 Covid patients recovered from the disease during the day, pushing the total number of cured people to 19,49,188. The discharge rate now is 97.68 per cent.
Of the fresh fatalities, 13 were registered in North 24 Parganas district, followed by five in Kolkata and three in Nadia district.
North 24 Parganas also recorded the highest number of new infections at 233 while Kolkata, Darjeeling and Hooghly districts logged 179, 150 and 141 cases respectively, the bulletin said.
In the last 24 hours, West Bengal tested 34,817 samples for Covid-19 taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 2,32,18,059, it added.
