Holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi accountable for the overwhelming second wave of Coronavirus, Indian Medical Association (IMA) vice president Dr Navjot Dahiya called him a “super spreader”, according to a report in The Tribune.
Dahiya called out the Prime Minister for addressing massive rallies across poll-bound states, where COVID-19 protocols went grossly violated. He said, “While the medical fraternity is trying hard to make people understand mandatory COVID norms, PM Modi did not hesitate to address the big political rallies tossing all COVID norms in the air.”
He also pointed out that there is a scarcity of oxygen leading to several deaths, while projects for installing oxygen are still pending with the Union Government for clearance.
Highlighting events with huge gatherings like election rallies and Kumbh Mela, Dr Dahiya questioned the seriousness of Modi-led Union Government to tackle the spread of the deadly virus.
Also, he compared the COVID-19 crisis to the farmers’ agitation, where Modi’s reluctance in solving the issue, is harbouring a serious COVID-19 threat.
