Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone for healthcare projects worth around Rs 12,850 crore on 29 October, marking Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day. The event, to be held at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, will see several initiatives aimed at expanding healthcare access, improving infrastructure, and integrating advanced technology across the sector.
In a key addition to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), the Prime Minister will extend health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of income, offering crucial support to older citizens.
Among the major projects, Phase II of the All India Institute of Ayurveda will be inaugurated, featuring a Panchakarma hospital, Ayurvedic pharmacy, sports medicine unit, central library, IT and start-up incubation centre, and a 500-seat auditorium. Three new medical colleges will also be opened in Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, along with facility expansions at various AIIMS centres across India, including New Delhi, Bhopal, Guwahati, and Kalyani. Additionally, the PM will open a Super Speciality Block at Government Medical College, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, and a Critical Care Block in Bargarh, Odisha.
Foundation stones will also be laid for new nursing colleges across Madhya Pradesh and for 21 Critical Care Blocks in states including Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. These facilities aim to address high-demand healthcare needs and improve emergency response in rural and urban areas.
Demonstrating his commitment to integrating technology in healthcare, the PM will launch drone services across 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions, enabling faster delivery of medical supplies to remote areas. A Helicopter Emergency Medical Service will also be introduced at AIIMS Rishikesh.
In a further boost to digital healthcare, the U-WIN portal will be launched to streamline and digitalise vaccination services for pregnant women and children, enhancing the timely administration of vaccines for preventable diseases. A dedicated portal for allied healthcare professionals and institutes will also be introduced to serve as a comprehensive database.
For research and development, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and lay the foundation stones for two Central Research Institutes for Yoga and Naturopathy in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Centres of Excellence at NIPER institutes in Gujarat, Telangana, Assam, and Punjab will advance drug discovery, phytopharmaceuticals, and medical device production.

To support the Make in India initiative, five new projects under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing high-end medical devices and critical care equipment will be inaugurated, with facilities set up in states including Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
The PM will also unveil the “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” a nationwide campaign for health awareness, and release a state-specific action plan to develop climate-resilient healthcare services across India.
