The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made notable strides in freight loading, with the month of August 2024 marking substantial growth across various commodities. NFR, dedicated to its role in ensuring the timely delivery of essential goods, recorded a total freight loading of 0.803 million tonnes in August, underscoring its relentless efforts to serve customers and contribute to the region’s economic progress.
Several commodities experienced a significant boost in loading figures compared to the same period in the previous year. Cement loading saw a remarkable increase of 112.5%, while petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) recorded a growth of 3.7%. Fertilizer loading doubled, with a 100% rise over the corresponding period last year. Additionally, the loading of other key commodities such as timber and ballast registered an impressive surge of 1500% and 13%, respectively, compared to the previous fiscal year. Miscellaneous items also showed notable growth, with a 122.2% increase in loading over the same period.
The consistent upward trend in freight loading highlights the increasing economic activity within the region. The cumulative freight loading for NFR up to August 2024 has now reached 4.477 million tonnes, reflecting an 8% rise compared to the same period last year. This growth not only contributes to the region’s economic dynamics but also generates significant revenue for NFR, further establishing its role as a key player in freight transportation.
