RPF apprehends 225 illegal migrants during routine checks

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway has apprehended 225 illegal migrants and 16 Indian agents during routine checks across various stations from 1 January to 15 August 2024. The RPF’s ongoing efforts are aimed at identifying and detaining illegal migrants, including those from Bangladesh and Rohingya communities. In the first half of August alone, the RPF detained 22 illegal migrants.

On 1 August 2024, a joint operation was conducted by the RPF team and the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala Railway Station. During this routine check, 10 individuals, including three women and seven men, were found to be without valid travel documents. Upon interrogation, they admitted to having entered India illegally from Bangladesh and were planning to travel to Delhi by train. These individuals were subsequently handed over to the Officer In-Charge of the Government Railway Police at Agartala for further legal action.
