India establishes committee to oversee Indo-Bangladesh border developments

The Government of India has established a Committee tasked with monitoring the current situation along the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB).

The primary objective of this Committee is to maintain open communication channels with the relevant authorities in Bangladesh to safeguard Indian citizens and members of minority communities residing in Bangladesh.

The Committee will be led by the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) from the Eastern Command.

Its members will include the Inspector Generals (IG) of the BSF Frontier Headquarters in South Bengal and Tripura, the Member (Planning & Development) of the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), and the Secretary of the LPAI.
