According to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), 55.8 kgs of Ganja and 30.8 kgs of other contraband items were seized from various trains and stations by the RPF of N. F. Railway between 07 and 9 May 2024.
The RPF of N. F. Railway said that on 07 May 2024, a routine drive was conducted by the RPF and the GRP team at Agartala railway station, in which a suspicious person with bags was seen.
According to the RPF, on opening the bags, a Ganja weighing approximately 25 kg was found, which is worth about Rs 2.50 lakh. One person was apprehended in this connection and later handed over to the GRP of Agartala for further course of action.
Further drives and checks conducted from May 7 to May 9 also led to the recovery of around 30.8 kgs of Ganja from different trains and stations. The recovered Ganjas were also handed over to the concerned department for further legal action, the RPF of N. F. Railway said.
