The government and industry are set to collaborate on building a robust 5G ecosystem in India through the launch of the Curtain Raiser of World Telecom Standardization Assembly Delhi 2024 (WTSA 2024) and the eighth edition of Asia’s premier digital technology exhibition, IMC 2024.
The WTSA 2024, to be held from October 15 to 24 in New Delhi, will bring together telecom operators, large users, network equipment vendors, cable companies, and academic institutions from around the world. The event will focus on the next generation of telecommunications technologies, including 5G, IoT, and autonomous vehicles.
As part of the initiative, the telecom ministry has also announced the launch of a new initiative – the Spectrum Regulatory Sandbox – to streamline the equipment testing procedures in the telecom sector. This is expected to foster innovation and ease of access to telecommunications services in the country.
The government’s decision to invest in digital development and promote 5G will help create a conducive environment for investment and innovation in the telecom sector. The expected growth in the number of connected devices in the near future will also contribute to the growth of the digital economy in India.
The WTSA 2024 and IMC 2024 are expected to attract over 2,000 participants from 193 member countries, including more than 900 associate and sector members of ITU. This event will provide a platform to showcase innovative solutions, services, and use cases for industry, government, academics, startups, and other key stakeholders in the technology ecosystem.
