Vivek Agnihotri’s recent film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has created a buzz across the country since its release on Friday. Videos of people pouring their emotions out after watching the film are doing rounds on various social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

One such widely circulating video showed veteran BJP leader LK Advani seated inside a cinema hall, surrounded by people. Several posts and tweets stated that the video showed Advani teary-eyed watching the film.

A video clip shared on Facebook by a user named Ishwar Lal Chouhan garnered more than 1,000 likes with 424 shares and 34 comments. The post captioned in Hindi writes “Senior BJP leader Lalkrishna Advani cried after watching #TheKashmiriFiles movie made on #Kashmiri Pandits… ”

The same video clip was also shared by a verified Facebook page by the name of BJP leader and former MLA of Rohtak Manish Grover claiming that “Advani himself reached the cinema hall to watch The Kashmir Files”. It also added that the veteran leader “teared up” after watching the film.

Fact Check

Eastmojo‘s fact-check team found out that the viral video is not a recent one and the claims made by the posts are not true. Eastmojo did a keyword search on google and found this report carried to be carried on Etimes.

Published on Feb 8, 2020, it mentions that LK Advani attended the screening of the film Shikara: The Untold Story Of Kashmiri Pandits by filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Earlier on Feb 7, 2020, the video shared was on Vidhuvinodchoprafilms Instagram page, where it says, “Shri L K Advani at the special screening of #Shikara. We are so humbled and grateful for your blessings and your appreciation for the film Sir.”
