Kohima: Nagaland has completed the training of field trainers for all 17 districts as part of preparations for the Census of India 2027.
A total of 130 field trainers from across the state underwent a three-day residential training programme conducted in four batches. The trained personnel will now train Census Supervisors and Enumerators across Nagaland during June 2026, covering 157 sub-divisions, municipalities and towns.
According to a government update, the training programmes were held between May 20 and May 29, 2026, with 100 per cent participation. The sessions were organised under the leadership of the deputy commissioners of Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kohima and Phek.
More than 6,000 government officials are expected to be engaged in conducting the Census in Nagaland. The exercise will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase, House-Listing Operations, will begin with an online self-enumeration facility from June 16 to June 30, 2026, allowing citizens to register details of their households. This will be followed by verification of the self-enumerated data and physical enumeration of households that are unable to complete the process online.
The second phase, Population Enumeration, is scheduled for February 2027 and will involve the collection of demographic data across the state.
The Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland, has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the exercise and extend their cooperation to ensure the successful conduct of Census 2027.
