Kohima: In a bid to address the long-pending grievances of RMSA 2016 batch of teachers, a high-level meeting was convened on Thursday under the chairmanship of Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Home Commissioner, Nagaland.
The meeting was attended by officials from the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, Law and Justice Department, along with representatives of the RMSA 2016 batch.
During the deliberations, Sinha explained the government’s position and highlighted constraints faced by the state, particularly due to the Review Petition pending in the Supreme Court on the issue of implementing scale pay.
While acknowledging the contributions of the RMSA 2016 teachers, he also reminded them of the adverse impact of their ongoing agitation on the student community and reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving their concerns.
He further noted the lengthy nature of litigation processes and suggested exploring workable alternatives to break the current deadlock.
To this end, he proposed the constitution of a committee comprising representatives from the School Education Department, Samagra, Finance Department, Justice and Law, the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), and the RMSA 2016 batch to examine the grievances in detail.
Government officials assured the teachers that their submitted memorandum would be carefully studied and placed before the Chief Minister for consideration. They also appealed to the RMSA teachers to call off their agitation and return to classrooms in the larger interest of students to prevent further loss of learning.
The meeting concluded with an understanding to continue dialogue and work towards a mutually acceptable resolution to the issue.
