Dimapur: In a new political development, the National People’s Party (NPP) in Nagaland witnessed a major boost as several senior prominent leaders from rival political parties formally joined its ranks.
The induction took place at the NPP State Headquarters in Dimapur in the presence of A. Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA and State President of the NPP, along with members of the State Executive Committee.
The leaders were welcomed into the party and inducted as primary members during a formal programme on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the NPP State President extended a warm welcome to the new entrants and encouraged them to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the people of Nagaland and the party’s mission of inclusive development.
The leaders who joined the NPP included BJP leaders K James Vizo, Kikokul John Kulnu, Rosy Yanthan, Khehoshe Sumi, Chumbemo Ezung; and Congress leaders Onen Jamir, Takaomoa, Marchiten, Takotemsu, Wangshimeren, John Patton, Nukshi Jamir, Imtionen, Bendangonen, and Athrong Sangtam.
The induction of these leaders, many of whom have served in various capacities within their former parties, is seen as a strategic gain for the NPP as it aims to expand its grassroots presence in Nagaland.
The NPP leadership expressed optimism that the entry of the senior political workers will contribute to the party’s vision for a progressive and people-centric governance model in Nagaland.
“We look forward to their contribution for the growth of the party in Nagaland,” the party said.
