Kohima: In a celebration of local produce and traditional craftsmanship, Khonoma village, Nagaland’s green village, is set to host the first Chümerie (Garlic) Festival on March 14 at Terhuotsiese ground at Khonoma from 11 a.m. onwards.
Organised by the Khonoma Women Union (KWU) with support from Myki under the Women Resource Development Department, Government of Nagaland, the festival aims to promote locally-grown organic garlic and other agricultural produce from the region.

Adding to the festivity, Nagaland’s Minister for Rural Development, Metsübo Jamir, will grace the occasion as the special guest. Several government departments, including Women Resource Development, Horticulture, and Agriculture, will also participate in the event to extend their support to local producers.
The organisers have extended an open invitation for an experience of the rich local produce, culture, and hospitality of Khonoma. Exciting offers on local goods will also be available for visitors looking to purchase fresh produce and traditional items.
