Kohima: The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has reaffirmed its stance of non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango following the latter’s failure to address a key point in a previously agreed-upon resolution.
This decision comes after a resolution adopted at a meeting held on August 20, 2024, facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB), which remains unmet.
AYO President Kesosul Christopher Ltu and General Secretary Neidilhoutuo Sechü, on Monday recounted a letter received from the Supervisor of the CFSB, which sought to resolve the ongoing issues between the AYO and the NSCN (K) Khango. In response, the AYO engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Khango group, led by Kilo Kilonser Visheto Yeptho and Supervisor A Imyapangba Ao.
During the August 20 meeting, the two parties reached a four-point agreement. However, the NSCN (K) Khango has yet to fulfill Point No. 3 of the agreement, which requires the group to publicly disclose the identity of an individual known as “Max Naga” and to initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him within 15 days. The AYO had stated that it would withdraw its non-cooperation and recall Angami workers from the NSCN (K) Khango upon compliance with this point.
The AYO expressed regret over the NSCN (K) Khango’s failure to honor the gentlemen’s agreement. Following discussions with senior leaders and representatives from the four ranges—SAYO, NAYO, WAYO, and CYO—the AYO unanimously resolved to uphold the August 20 agreement and continue its non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango until Point No. 3 is fulfilled.
