Chümoukedima: A senior pastor in Nagaland’s Chümoukedima district has resigned following allegations of attempted sexual assault involving a young male associated with the church, sparking widespread outrage within the local community.

As per a statement issued by the Father’s House Church, it expressed deep pain and anguish over the incident, confirming that its senior pastor Robert Kikon, who was also a founding member, stepped down after revelations of his “immoral acts.”

“After uncovering his immoral acts, the members of Father’s House required his resignation, and the same became official on September 22, 2024,” the church said in an official statement.

It further emphasised that the pastor’s alleged actions were contrary to Christian values, leading to his removal from office.

The young boy reportedly informed board members and fellow pastors about the incident. The church acted swiftly, urging Kikon to resign, which became official on September 22 amid the allegations.

The incident has sparked significant discussion on social media, with many expressing shock and condemning the alleged actions. Church officials and community members alike have voiced their disappointment over the matter.

Father’s House Church is affiliated with the Asia Harvest Alliance.

In light of the allegations, the Nagaland Department of Social Welfare is reportedly involved in the case and held a meeting with the church’s board members on Wednesday to discuss the situation.
