Kohima: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather update, forecasting cloudy weather with heavy to moderate rainfall across the state until October 5.
The authority has warned that some areas could experience thunderstorms and lightning during this period.
According to NSDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Kohima, Niuland, Noklak, and Peren, while the remaining districts may witness moderate rainfall.
The lowland and foothill areas, including Dimapur, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are at risk of waterlogging and flash floods due to excessive precipitation in the hills.
The NSDMA has advised the public to remain cautious and avoid exposure to lightning and strong winds, which may disrupt communication and connectivity.
It has also urged all District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and relevant departments to stay on alert and take preventive measures to protect lives and properties during the monsoon period.
Citizens have been encouraged to follow safety protocols and stay informed through local authorities to avoid any potential incidents during the adverse weather conditions.
