Kohima: As landslide restoration works along the NH-29 continue in Kohima district, multiple massive landslides have been reported along the National Highway stretch in Chümoukedima district, cutting off the crucial Kohima-Dimapur link.
Six persons were killed in the landslide at Pherima near Pagala Pahar/New Chumoukedima, following the major landslide which occurred on Tuesday night. Four other persons were injured.
The deceased has been identified as Khriesangulie (46), Samir Dutta (43); Anhieü (57); Daju (60); Sapon (52) and Vijay (28).

According to the Dimapur Police, a massive mudslide at Pherima, landslide at Tseipama/ Piphema and another major landslide on NH 29 (Pagala Pahar/New Chumoukedima) have washed away an entire section of the road.
“All vehicular traffic between Kohima and Dimapur on NH-29 is blocked as it is not possible to ply on this stretch of road,” the Commissioner of Police said

Alternate routes via Pimla Mhainamtsi for commuting between Kohima and Dimapur are also not advised due to the above landslides.
It informed that the Niuland – Kohima via Zhadima road can be used by light motor vehicles only. The Dimapur Police warned that no heavy vehicles shall be allowed to ply on this route.
As per an advisory, citizens have been requested to take extreme precautions during this weather condition and to plan their travels accordingly.
Meanwhile, Nagaland CM took to twitter saying, “Convened a meeting and took stock of the disaster situation on NH-29, which resulted in 6 casualties. I urge citizens to heed to official advisories. The Govt. is providing emergency services and ex-gratia. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased”.
