The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Khango) faction has officially terminated a cadre following an assault on a local pastor in Naukhuti Town on August 24, 2024.
The cadre, identified as ‘Pvt.’ Akhekivi, son of Ahovi from Kiyezu B village, was dismissed after allegedly attacking Mr. Rhanlamo Kikon, pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church, while he was traveling from Dimapur to Yanpha village.
In a statement, the NSCN (Khango) condemned the actions of Pvt. Akhekivi, citing his breach of Naga Army Rules and Regulations (RR). His behavior was described as “unbecoming” of a member of the Naga Army. The dismissal, referred to as an Ahza, was enacted immediately.
The incident, which occurred around 4 PM in Naukhuti Town, Assam, has sparked widespread outrage. The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) was among the first to denounce the attack, describing it as a “deliberate and premeditated” act involving an attempted point-blank shooting with intent to kill. The LSU called for swift legal action and urged the NSCN (Khango) to distance itself from violent members.
Following the attack, the Yanpha Village Council and Yanpha Baptist Church lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Niuland Police Station, accusing Pvt. Akhekivi of assault and attempted murder.
