Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is set to organise a significant event titled “The Naga Morung” on August 14, at the NBCC Convention Centre in Kohima.
According to the student body, the event aims to revive the traditional Naga Morung, historically the cornerstone of Naga society, where young Nagas were educated about their customs, traditions, and history.
In light of the decline in this tradition, the NSF has recognised the growing generational gaps in understanding the historical and political heritage of the Naga people. To address this, “The Naga Morung” has been organised under the theme “Kuknalim,” meaning “Victory to the People and Land,” with the objective of instilling a renewed sense of dignity, identity, and purpose among young Nagas.
The event aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Naga national movement, highlighting the history and political standing of the Naga people.
It will also emphasise on collective identity, encouraging pride, unity, and purpose among the youth.
The event will offer a detailed narrative on the Naga people’s stance for self-determination, significant milestones, and key figures in the Naga struggle. Further, the event hopes to actively engage in preserving and promoting Naga identity and heritage.
The “Kuknalim” theme symbolises the resilience, victory, and collective aspirations of the Naga people for self-determination and a unified identity, as per the student body.
The event will feature renowned historians and scholars who will provide valuable insights into the Naga political journey. Panels will also address contemporary issues faced by young Nagas, their role in the community, and their contributions to the future of the Naga people.
The program will include personal narratives and historical stories to instill a sense of pride and identity among the participants.
