Dimapur: Disappointed over not receiving the NDPP party ticket to contest in the upcoming ULB elections from Ward-8 under Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), a loyal NDPP founding member has switched allegiance to the Nagaland Congress.
Khrozote Kapfo, a former secretary in the media cell of the NDPP, recently addressed a press conference at the Congress Bhawan in Dimapur alleging that the NDPP has only provided tickets for the upcoming ULB elections to “rich people” and “bureaucrats.”
Despite being one of the founders of NDPP in Dimapur and having worked as the secretary in the media cell for a long time, Kapfo said tickets have been given to newcomers. Expressing his disappointment, he mentioned that he had received assurances from the party that the ticket for Ward-8 would go to him due to his close association with the party as a founding member. Kapfo had even started preparations with the youths in the ward for the local body polls but was denied the party ticket at the last moment.
“When I went to take my ticket for the elections, there was no ticket for me,” he said, claiming that tickets were given to people whose faces they had never seen.

Kapfo further criticised the NDPP, stating that the NDPP’s motive is clear-it only looks after the big shots, the bureaucrats, and those with powerful backgrounds.
Significantly, Kapfo mentioned that many other NDPP party workers in Dimapur-I and Dimapur-II are planning to resign and join the Congress soon. He estimated that nearly 60-70 members will resign and join the Congress. Kapfo stated that with the consent of his followers, he has decided to join the Congress party to work for the development of his ward.
