Kohima: Covering around 1,800 km so far, 46 participants who started off from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, for the 7th edition of the North East India inter-state friendship car rally, made it to the Nagaland’s capital on Monday.

The Rally is organized by the International Friendship Car Rally Association (IFCRA) and sponsored by the North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER.

The team of 46 people, including six female participants, will now head to Assam and Sikkim. The rally will then culminate at Assam and is expected to cover a total of 2,800 km.

International Friendship Car Rally Association (IFCRA) President Pem Sonam told journalists in Kohima that the rally is aimed at promoting tourism in the region and also building a bridge for the people to connect.

The youngest participant, 21-year-old Gopi Lollen from Arunachal Pradesh, said, “This is my first time on a car rally. Though it is tiresome, it is worth it as I really wanted to explore and see new places.”

As a female traveler, she said that the only challenge on the road is to hold on pee for hours. “Besides holding my pee for hours, I’m okay with all the other challenges. I will encourage the youth, especially women, to grab any opportunity when they get a chance to explore,” she added.
