Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the state government to strictly implement a “no work, no pay” policy on erring teachers in the state.
“…most of the teachers employed by the state government have been neglecting their duties even while online classes have been in full swing. Such dereliction of duties reflects badly upon the noble profession,” NSF said in a representation submitted to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday.
The NSF also appealed to the state government to issue an official order concerning fee waiver by all the schools in the state, in line with court orders.
The NSF urged the state government to maintain transparency and accountability in COVID-19 fund utilisation.
While acknowledging the formation of the core committee on the Naga political issue, the Federation also appealed to the government to sincerely and proactively work towards ensuring that peace and unity prevail among the Nagas.
It also urged the government to bring all Naga Political Groups (NPGS) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) together under one table for an early, inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue.
Further, it urged the government to effectively liaise with the Government of India to expedite the process of Indo-Naga political dialogue with the negotiating parties and to ink the final agreement to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue in line with the unique “history and situation ‘of the Naga people.
The Federation also stressed that effective implementation of e-governance is the need of the hour to bring transparency in governance. It urged the government to ensure that details of schemes and programs are made readily available in the public domain in compliance with the laid down guidelines for departmental websites, and enhance the level of citizen interaction in governance through technology.
On the issue of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board, the Federation appealed to the State Government not to delay its implementation and make it fully functional owing to the rise in the number of educated unemployed youths in the state. It added that the government should revise and resolve the Reservation Policy in the state within the legally permissible jurisdiction without delay.
The NSF reiterated its commitment to the rationalization of the SSA and RMSA batch of 2010 and 2013 and that the joint agreement signed on October 18 last year be materialized in letter and spirit. “The Federation shall no longer tread lightly on the matter if the State Government does not honour the aforementioned agreement,” it added.
The student body informed that the CM stressed the need for unity within the Naga society and has assured fullest support towards the federation in the collective endeavour to better the Naga society.
