The National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) is showcasing the iconic film ‘Jewel Thief’ this month, as part of its new initiative to celebrate the country’s rich cinematic heritage.
‘Jewel Thief’, directed by Vijay Anand in 1967, has been “restored meticulously” by the National Film Heritage Mission by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), in an effort to ensure that audiences can experience the magic of the suspense drama in all its original glory.
The film is being played every Saturday at 4 pm, as part of the NMIC’s ongoing efforts to preserve Indian cinema’s rich legacy.
The presence of actress Esha Gupta as the chief guest on the occasion helped to lend an air of elegance and significance to the celebrations of cinematic excellence at NMIC.

Gupta, one of the prominent actresses from the modern era, paid tribute to the importance of preserving India’s cinematic heritage, saying, “Along with the older generation, this initiative taken by NFDC-NMIC-NFAI will make the younger generation aware of the beautiful cinema legacy of Indian Cinema.”
She also took the opportunity to highlight the timeless charm of yesteryear heroines like Vyjayantimala, whose grace continues to captivate audiences.
