Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday presented Rs 17,469.91 crore budget for the 2026–2027 financial year in the state assembly, announcing a dedicated allocation of INR 40 lakh for anti-narcotics activities to intensify efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, created a new budget head titled “Anti-Narcotics Activities” under the Excise Department. The allocation is aimed at supporting targeted enforcement drives, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and conducting awareness campaigns to curb the spread of narcotic drugs across the state.

He stated that total revenue receipts for 2026–27 are projected at INR 17,469.91 crore, including INR 8,608.08 crore from central tax devolution. Total expenditure is estimated at INR 17,076.92 crore, resulting in a surplus of INR 392.99 crore, which will be used to reduce public account liabilities.
The budget also earmarks INR 2,982.44 crore for capital expenditure, representing a 12.18 percent increase over the previous fiscal year. Revenue expenditure for 2026–27 is projected at INR 14,094.47 crore, marking a 13.18 percent rise compared to the current fiscal estimate.
Supplementary demands for grants amounting to INR 3,724.25 crore were also presented for the ongoing financial year.
