Aizawl: Acting on specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles launched a search operation in the general area of Zote, Champhai district. During the operation, the troops recovered 1.11 kilograms of Methamphetamine tablets, estimated to be worth approximately ₹3.03 crore in the illegal market.
The contraband was reportedly in possession of a Myanmar national identified as Mr. Lalfakawma. He was apprehended on the spot by security personnel.
Following standard procedure, both the seized narcotics and the arrested individual were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, for further legal action.
Assam Rifles continues to intensify its vigilance along the India-Myanmar border, especially in Mizoram’s Champhai district, which has become a key route in the cross-border smuggling of narcotics.
