Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday officially launched the Mizo DiasporaHub, a digital platform designed to connect Mizos living across the world. The launch event took place at RB McCabe Hall, Aijal Club, and was attended by government officials, civil society members, and technologists.
Developed by LushAITech in collaboration with the Mizo Diaspora Cell under the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the portal is intended to serve as a central platform for Mizo welfare associations and individuals abroad to stay connected, coordinate assistance, and share information.
In his inaugural address, Chief Minister Lalduhoma said the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to innovation and good governance. He noted that “as a people’s government, we have launched several platforms to bring the government closer to the people,” citing initiatives such as Mipui Aw for public grievances, e-Ram for land and revenue administration, e-OPD for online hospital registration, Kai Apps for employee attendance, the SDG Dashboard for tracking development goals, MPLAN for government planning, ILP Online, and the cloud-based e-Office system within the CMO.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of building strong and sustained engagement with Mizo communities abroad. He said the government aims to strengthen these ties through the new portal and urged Mizo welfare associations and community groups around the world to register and take full advantage of its features. He added that the government is ready to assist Mizos abroad, especially during times of hardship, and that the platform would also allow global associations to better coordinate and support one another.
Lalduhoma expressed appreciation for LushAITech and the Mizo Diaspora Cell for developing the portal without significant government expenditure, calling it a model of low-cost, high-impact innovation.
Chairman of the Mizo Diaspora Cell, Vanlaldina Fanai, said the cell was established on June 11, 2024, to monitor and address the growing challenges faced by Mizos living overseas. He said many Mizos fall prey to exploitation or suffer hardships while migrating through irregular channels, and stressed the need for more responsible migration and stronger ties with the homeland. He also acknowledged the support of departments including the Ministry of External Affairs, Home Department, SP (CID & Crime Branch), LESDE, MYC, and the Department of Law and Judicial Affairs.
The Mizo DiasporaHub is now open for registration by welfare associations, while individual registration is expected to begin soon. The portal provides users with the ability to locate welfare associations, identify gathering locations, and find contact information of office bearers. It also offers AI-enabled features such as automatic translation and SOS alerts, designed to enhance communication and safety for Mizos abroad.
The platform is now available for download on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and can also be accessed through its web version.
