Aizawl: Mizoram is gearing up to launch a full-scale enrolment drive through the Foreigners Identification Portal & Biometric Enrolment system. A comprehensive training session was held at the Police Computer Training Centre, SP Office, Lunglei, preparing officials for the upcoming rollout.
Organised by the District Level Committee on Myanmar & Bangladesh Refugees (DLCMBR), the training aimed to ensure accurate biometric enrolment and identification of displaced persons from Myanmar and Bangladesh, who have taken shelter in various camps across the state.
The session was chaired by Sub-Deputy Commissioner Lalnunchhani Hnamte, while Additional SP Pu K. Beihmotaosa provided an update on preparations already in motion, including the formation of 10 dedicated Biometric Enrolment Teams and procurement of essential equipment from the Home Department.
The state will kick off the enrolment drive this July, beginning with Ramthar Camp and gradually covering eight additional camps. A total of 27 officials were trained by Master Trainers CZ Lalnilianpuia and C. Lalremruata through practical, hands-on sessions designed to ensure smooth and efficient operations on the ground.
