The Mizoram State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC), operating under the Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram, has received the prestigious 4th LDC Excellence Award 2024 in the Emerging LDC Category. This award, organised by Grid India and the Forum of Load Despatchers (FOLD), acknowledges exceptional performance and innovation among Load Despatch Centres across the nation.
Power Minister F. Rodingliana expressed his gratitude to the officials and staff whose dedication made this achievement possible. He praised their hard work and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence to contribute to the development of both the state and the country.
The award was presented on December 14, 2024, during the 23rd National Power System Conference held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore. Engineer-in-Chief H. Zonunsanga, representing the Power & Electricity Department, received the award from Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Chairman Ghan Shyam Prasad. SLDC officers and staff who played a crucial role in this accomplishment also attended the ceremony.
This recognition places Mizoram’s SLDC among the best-performing Load Despatch Centres in India. The competition included evaluations of load despatch centres in three categories, with the Emerging LDC Category covering 13 states and union territories. Mizoram’s SLDC emerged as the top performer, securing the first prize in its category.
This is not the first time the SLDC has been recognized for its exceptional performance. In 2023, it was ranked among the top three load despatch centres in its category.
The evaluation process for the 2024 award focused on several critical aspects of SLDC operations. These included the efficient utilization of power resources, active participation in power trading markets, and the development of islanding schemes to ensure uninterrupted power for Aizawl during grid failures. Other factors assessed were measures to enhance grid stability, such as implementing Automatic Demand Management Systems (ADMS) and Under Frequency Relays (UFR). The SLDC’s initiatives in cybersecurity and its continuous training programs for staff were also key components in the rigorous selection process, which involved interviews and presentations to assess overall performance and preparedness.
Mizoram’s SLDC continues to set a benchmark in the power sector, showcasing its commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
