Aizawl: The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department has generated ₹18,795,019 in revenue for the state government between January and November 2024, according to data reported by Zalen, a local vernacular publication.
Over the past 11 months, the department has conducted extensive anti-drug operations, seizing a total of:
• 44.650 kg of heroin,
• 560 kg of ganja, and
• 134 kg of methamphetamine.
The department also confiscated vehicles used for transporting drugs, including 46 two-wheelers, 10 three-wheelers, 73 light motor vehicles (LMVs), one medium motor vehicle (MMV), and one heavy motor vehicle (HMV).
Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act, the department apprehended 5,154 individuals. Additionally, 414 people were detained under the Mizoram Excise Act, and 44 were booked under the Liquor Act.
The seizures and arrests underscore the department’s continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.
