Aizawl: In a significant political development, Rasik Mohan Chakma was removed from the position of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) through a No-Confidence Motion during the first sitting of the Winter Session 2024-2025 held today.
The motion was moved by opposition member Doymoy Daveng Chakma, citing Rule 84 (1) of the CADC (Constitution, Conduct of Business, etc.) Rules, 2002. In the vote that followed, of the 18 elected members present and voting, 9 members supported the motion, while 8 members opposed it. Two members were absent from the session.
After the vote count, Chairman of the session declared that the Executive Committee headed by Rasik Mohan Chakma would be immediately removed from office. The decision marks a dramatic shift in the leadership of the CADC.
The session was swiftly prorogued after the announcement, bringing an end to the sitting. The removal of Rasik Mohan Chakma has left the political landscape of the CADC in a state of uncertainty, with further developments expected in the coming days.
