Aizawl: The Central Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (CMCSU) has called on the Governor of Mizoram to address irregularities in recruitment practices within the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC).
In a letter submitted on Monday, CMCSU expressed deep concerns over the lack of standardized recruitment rules, leading to what they describe as a culture of nepotism and favoritism that undermines merit-based hiring in the council.
According to the union, the absence of clear recruitment guidelines has resulted in multiple illegal appointments, often filled without public advertisement or competitive processes. This lack of transparency, they argue, has compromised the integrity of the CADC, disadvantaging talented and qualified individuals and fostering a system that prioritizes close relatives of political leaders over candidates with necessary qualifications.
“The current practices do not only affect the aspirations of individuals but also impact the community’s growth and development,” the letter stated, urging the immediate implementation of standardized and transparent recruitment rules. CMCSU emphasized that such reforms would not only ensure fair opportunities for all candidates but would also strengthen public trust in the council’s governance.
The students’ union expressed hope that the Governor’s intervention would pave the way for meaningful reforms, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the CADC and promoting overall development in the Chakma community.
